Local Plans

These are Published locally to cover a Twenty year period and will involve Policy changes when new Plans are adopted

These state where buildings can be constructed, What type is allowable plus varies criteria in relation to appearance, parking, infrastructure, and other local provisions , including CIL [Community infrastructure levies.]

There is an extensive circa 5 year process to write a new plan and so the process starts early, it often takes a while to formally adopt them.

  • Staffordshire Moorlands - Local Plan 2014 to 2033 - adopted Sept 2020 which sets Local policies that would also be used to consider an application
  • Stafford Local Plan 2020-2040 – Consultation closed Dec 2022 Submitted to Inspector Dec 2022 Adoption pending
  • Stoke Local Plan - 2020-2040 – submitted to Inspector 2022 Adoption pending
  • Newcastle under Lyme Local Plan - 2020-2040 – submitted to Inspector 2022 Adoption pending
  • Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme were producing a Joint Local Plan, but appear to have separated their processes in late 2022
